Controller

Oak Patch Gifts is looking for a candidate with strong technical and analytical skills. This position will provide a great opportunity for professional and personal growth. The Controller will be a leader who can integrate well with our current management team, oversee our accounting department employees, and provide senior management with the financial analysis, reporting, and insights required. The Controller will report to the CFO and participate as a key member of our management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Month-end financial statement closing
  • Oversee all general accounting activities
  • Provide onsite training and written procedures for accounting department staff
  • Serve as the point of contact for sales rep firms regarding commissions and complete commission statements on a monthly basis
  • Complete monthly bank reporting
  • Calculate quarterly taxable income estimates and related shareholder distributions
  • Prepare work paper package for year-end CPA review and tax return prep
  • Accounting due diligence on mergers and acquisitions
  • Maintenance of fixed asset schedules in Creative Solutions software
  • Provide weekly reports to senior management staff on department status, financial results, etc.
  • Maintain the system of accounts and keep all company transaction records and associated asset records
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal budgetary reporting requirements

    Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Consumer goods/import/export experience strongly desired
  • Technical skills and technical “mindset” are necessary. Especially important is intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge as well as a general understanding of ERP integration and reconciliation principles.
  • Significant and proven managerial/supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts in a manufacturing and/or supply chain environment preferred
  • Experience with MAS500 or other modern mid-market ERP systems preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Cost accounting experience a plus

    Sales Executive

    The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining and further developing key retail accounts while assuming all customer-facing responsibilities and communications for Oak Patch Gifts including: educating customers about products and programs, identifying and closing new customer prospects, writing orders and re-orders, and relaying timely information gathered at trade shows and in the field.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visits customers in person and at their retail location to assess satisfaction with Oak Patch products and programs.
  • Identify and target new customer prospects, and sell those prospects once identified.
  • Ensures displays receive the best possible placement in retail stores and that all racks are full of presentable, saleable merchandise at all times.
  • Prevents the buildup of unnecessary inventory at the retail level due to the regularly scheduled replenishment cycles.
  • Estabilishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect while providing the proper items and quantities of merchandise they require.
  • Represents Oak Patch Gifts with a positive, outgoing attitude and trustworthy behavior.
  • Collects real-time information from the field and relays that information to management for use in production and design decisions.
  • Reports regularly to management on activities and feedback from the field and tradeshows.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 2 years of field sales experience with either a) a growing consumer products company or b) a company selling products into a fragmented retail market.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must have a high level of confidence, professionalism and proven experience with direct, face-to-face sales.
  • Traveling will be required. (25%)
  • Proficient computer use and with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
