We love the gift business!
Oak Patch Gifts is the result of a partnership that began in Alaska in 1995. Two college buddies (that’s us: Chris and Pete) teamed up to manage a little fish processing plant on the banks of the Naknek River. Fish processing in Alaska may seem a long way from the gift industry, but from those beginnings we formed a close friendship and working relationship that continues to this day. A lot has changed since then but one important thing has not — we’re still having lots of fun!
Could there be a business more fun than gifts?
We arrived in the gift industry in 2003 with no preconceived notions and a fresh perspective. It didn’t take long to realize major changes were underway, and those changes continue today. Big discounters are staking claims in more and more product categories and many small, entrepreneurial businesses lack the financial and/or operational resources to compete. Yet these same small businesses often create the most unique and interesting products on the market.
